| Beginning in the summer of 2004 and running through 2006, and beyond,
ventriloquist/guitarist Dave Parker and his wooden pal Skippy will be celebrating
the 200th anniversary of the remarkable Lewis and Clark expedition across the
continent of North America. Dave, (as Meriwether Lewis) and Skippy, (as William
Clark) will be joined by their other puppet friends portraying heroic Sacagawea,
historic African-American York, and Lewis's dog, Seaman.
The script, written by Parker, recalls highlights of the Lewis and Clark journey via dialog and humor targeted to
elementary school age audiences. Adults will find the educational aspects interesting and younger children
will be entranced by puppets which speak and sing through the seemingly effortless efforts of the nationally
renowned ventriloquist.
The show emphasizes the peaceful cooperation between people of different cultures,
the safe crossing of huge obstacles, and the positive spirit and joy of its diverse cast of players. In addition to many jokes and silly asides, Skippy and Dave and friends will be performing upbeat songs ranging from Parkers' originals, "There's Merry Weather Ahead" and "Songman", to a Monkees parody, "Take The Lewis And Clark Trail". It's educational and fun for all! |
